I'm a Virginia Beach gal. It's where I've been (mostly) since I was five-years-old and it feels so BIG sometimes. We are a military-based vacation destination so no real surprise there. The city has just grown and grown and grown over the past 25 years. There's so much about this area I love but it can feel... loud and crowded. Right? Especially during the Summer months.
The great thing about Hampton Roads is that you can drive about 20 minutes in any direction and be in a completely different setting. Parts of Chesapeake and Suffolk are like this for me. I feel so far removed from the hustle and bustle of VB, it can be really refreshing! My soul just craves open, green space from time to time. So, I really enjoyed driving out to Suffolk on a quiet Wednesday morning for this sweet lifestyle newborn session.
There is nothing more honest or intimate than photographing a family after they bring a new baby home. And I love that mom, Emily, was all about the lifestyle approach. We both agreed being at home is way more easy on the entire family! Since I don't focus on the perfect, posed image, it helps everyone ease into one another in an authentic and natural way. Although we capture plenty of individual shots of baby, I am more interested in documenting the entire family.
How Mom looks at Dad holding their newest blessing.
The games and toys that siblings want to show me.
Those distinct and sometimes hysterical expressions that big brothers and sisters share.
All the beautiful details of their life in. this. exact. moment in time. I love every bit of it.
Hello, little one.
Big brother and sister playing picnic.
She was so blissful looking at her sweet girl....what a gorgeous Momma.
Love all those sweet, baby details...
Sweet dreams, little one.
If you are expecting a baby, it's never too early to book a newborn session. We simply place your due date on the calendar and touch base once baby and Mom are home safe and sound. Within the first two weeks I come by (with Starbucks in hand for you - yep!) to capture this special time. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org - I'd love to meet you! :)
