I LOVE a magical, beach sunset session. And when I have out-of-town families request it - I am even more excited! Sometimes I think (okay, I know) I take for granted living beside the ocean. It's a gift that not everyone can so easily enjoy!
This sweet family contacted me months ago, pumped about their upcoming vacation to Virginia Beach. As a seasoned Virginia Beach family photographer, I always reserve extra days for my out of town families, since the weather is completely unpredictable! We canceled our first date because it was strangely cold and overcast, but waiting till Tuesday ended up being the perfect idea! The rain and storm threats stayed away and we enjoyed a gorgeous evening.
Lisa is a talented hobbyist photographer, so I loved chatting with her about light and cameras! Don't tell me you love photography, because I will #nerdtalk forever.
After petting some friendly puppies, we build sand castles and splashed in the water. I loved how Lisa and her husband were so relaxed with the kiddos. They let them play, explore, and enjoy the time we spent together. I can't express how important this is during a photo session. I totally get it - it can be stressful to get everyone ready and there! But once we're there, it's ideal to relax into it and just let the kids be. We had a blast!
And if we aren't all covered in salt water and sand after a session, then it wasn't done right ;)
Hello, friend :)
Little brother ONLY wanted to hold his big sister's hand while walking. It was so heart-warming! These two already have an incredible bond. He tried to keep up with her the best his little legs could do. Sweetness!
She loved watching the waves... each one was "The BIGGEST wave EVER!!" :)
Loved the light for some black and white edits.
I am so thankful Lisa requested a silhouette shot! LOVE how this turned out with the clouds and that sunset. Just dreamy.
Thank you, C Family!
