When I first began as a Hampton Roads family and newborn photographer, it seemed the only way to photograph newborns was with tons of props and setups. I was intimidated, because I knew this style wasn’t me. It was beautiful of course, but it’s really exciting to see lifestyle newborn sessions are becoming more popular with parents. After photographing babies for nearly four years now, I have settled into a groove and style that’s totally me.
The couples and families that have been with me since nearly the beginning of my photography journey hold a solid and special part of my heart. Their trust is something I will never take for granted. Growing a small business doesn't just happen overnight. It's because of these families who step in front of my lens and allow me to tell their story. I am so grateful!
Lynn and Dave compliment one another so incredibly well. They are laughing about 3/4 of the time and it is totally contagious! On the other hand, there's this calm sweetness about them. A dedication to their life together that's really lovely to witness. Ever met a couple that makes you feel that way? I can hear Lynn giggling at me writing this, but it's true! ;)
We had fun in the Fall at their downtown Portsmouth maternity session. This image is my favorite - aren't they radiant?
By the time Atlas arrived, I was giddy to head over to their house and meet him. Their sweet cat met me at the door, nodded with disapproval and left us alone for the rest of the shoot, haha! Gotta love the fur babies.
I always love grabbing a few images outside and the overcast skies worked out perfectly. Then we headed inside for some cozy new family images. Master bedrooms and nurseries are my favorite for lifestyle newborn sessions. Comfortable, real, and where the next chapter takes place. Atlas' nursery was adorable and I could tell Lynn had fun choosing the right colors and details.

Dave was making us laugh from the doorway, I love her face when she looked over at him.
So precious! Love these three.
I am so grateful for this sweet family. Welcome home, Atlas - you are so cherished.
